Highway 35 remains closed as of Wednesday evening as fire activity from the Yellow Lake Fire continues near the highway. The Utah Fire Info report stated that Yellow Lake Fire is 6 percent contained and has reached 2,560 acres. “The fire is still active, and seeing slow amounts of growth around much of the perimeter,” shares the update. “Crews made good progress on the spot fire near Heart Lake and the southwest edge. The fire is mostly holding along the northeast side at the gas pipeline.” The closure of Highway 35 continues to be evaluated daily and is based on the current fire behavior. It was also reported that fire managers are working with respective county and local agencies to coordinate impact on grazing allotments, logging, and other permittee concerns. They are working with law enforcement to allow recreationists to retrieve their belongings in the campgrounds and within the closure area.
