Dinosaur National Monument announced that the rehabilitation of the Wade & Curtis Cabin at the Gates of Lodore is almost complete. The Maintenance Action Team (MAT) of the Historic Preservation Training Center have been working hard. “The sod on the roof is being watered 3 times daily to help establishment of grass/root system. Additional native grass seed and soil was distributed on the roof. The ABA entrance and doorway screen door have been installed and are ready for final paint touch ups…The hardwood floor has been sanded, cleaned, and oiled. Baseboards have been installed… The root cellar was cleaned out… Exterior 3” PVC venting was painted and installed. Repointing was completed on the foundation on the west elevation and corners.” After the rehabilitation and preservation work is completed this year, new interpretive exhibits will be installed in the cabin in 2024. Beginning in 2025, it will be opened as an interpretive facility to help visitors understand the geology, ecology and history of the Green River and Canyon of Lodore.
