Revitalization continues in downtown Vernal with one of the main projects now officially underway. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion shares that the Zions Block Project starts construction today. Vernal City Council approved BHI as the contractor during the April 5th City Council meeting. While the project design process is typically bid ahead of hiring the contractor, BHI agreed to a process of designing the project after being hired in order to “value engineer” the project. That process has taken place and BHI is set to begin construction with a schedule that shows completion of paving by October. In a separate item, the 100 South sewer project is on schedule. While Vernal Avenue has been closed from Main to 200 South for the sewer project, that road is scheduled to be opened today. Closures moving forward will be just where they are working on 100 South.
