A traffic stop on February 8th ended in arrest after the driver gave a teenage passenger a THC vape pen to hold so she wouldn’t get in trouble for it. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the driver was speeding and observed to have expired registration stickers. The officer performing the stop found that the vehicle also had no insurance and the driver’s license had been revoked for an alcohol offense and she was actively on probation for felony DUI charges. The driver and teenage passenger were asked to step out of the vehicle. While performing an inventory of the vehicle the officer found a receipt from a marijuana dispensary in Colorado with a date and time approximately 30 minutes prior to the stop but the THC vape pen listed on the receipt was not found in the vehicle. When asked, the driver said she had given it away to someone. Eventually, she explained that she gave it to the 16-year-old passenger to hold so she would not get in trouble for having it. 51-year-old Cassandra Sherman was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Endangerment of a Child as well as drug and vehicle misdemeanors and infractions.
