A Fort Duchesne woman was arrested in Uintah County on December 8th after crashing her vehicle and running from police. According to court documents, 34-year-old Laura Kay Jean Tapoof was seen operating a vehicle at night without headlights. An officer attempted to stop Tapoof but she fled and crashed into another vehicle in a parking lot. Tapoof ran away and attempted to hide but was found and arrested. Officers found open containers of alcohol and drug paraphernalia in the car. Her hotel room had methamphetamine and additional paraphernalia and alcohol. Tapoof has prior convictions for possession of controlled substances and is restricted from possessing alcohol. She was arrested for Failure to Respond to an Officer’s Signal to Stop, Possession of Controlled Substances, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Open Container, among other charges.
