Many firefighters around the state, region, and beyond are staying busy moving from one fire to the next. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, pilots flying UH-60 Black Hawks from the Utah National Guard 211th Aviation Battalion are currently helping with firefighting efforts on the Dollar Ridge Fire as well as the Coal Hollow Fire in Utah County. The Dollar Ridge Fire, now at 59,200 acres, is burning in the Timber Canyon area on Forest Service land. The Utah Department of Environmental Quality shared that Governor Herbert says this year will go down as one of the worst wildfire seasons on record. There have been 875 fires in Utah so far this season and 60 percent of those have been human caused, according to their report.
