There are many treasures to see in the Uintah Basin and some you only have a narrow window of time to do so. The spilling of the Upper Stillwater Dam is on that list and this year’s timing has prompted a change in schedule for the Uintah County Day Trips. Originally, this Wednesday, June 17th, was scheduled to be a hike at Steinaker State Park and June 24th was scheduled to be a trip to Stillwater Dam but organizers just got word that the Upper Stillwater Dam is expected to spill this week and may not last long. “We are excited to see the Dam spill over and we don’t want to miss it!” shares Uintah County Travel and Tourism. “So please note that this week’s Day Trip has been changed to the Upper Stillwater Dam. Next week, June 24th we will hike the Eagle Ridge Trail at Steinaker.” Day Trips are happening every Wednesday through July 22nd. Each week’s adventure begins at the Utah Field House/Dinosaur Museum. Individuals and families drive their own car. This week’s trip will meet at the Dinosaur Museum on Wednesday at 9am. The drive will take close to two hours so please plan ahead for enough gas, food, water, and hiking shoes.
