The Hancock Cove Sewer Project continues to progress thanks to the mild weather. Crews continue to install sewer pipe both inside and outside the subdivision. Condie Construction reports that over 2000 feet of sewer main line have been installed per week over the last two weeks. A gravel drain trench will be complete to allow groundwater a path to the natural drainage at the gulch. In addition to pipe installation, crews will install underground utilities, the roadway and gutter per Roosevelt City standards and widths. The project will add a 2 mile sewer line to the subdivision for a cost of around $5.8 million dollars. The project is being funded with a loan/grant from the Community Impact Board primarily and the Department of Environmental Quality. Residents in the Stonegate/Hancock Cove area outside Roosevelt have suffered serious septic tank failure as the neighborhood dealt with rising water tables. The area was annexed into Roosevelt City as part of the process to address the problem so that sewer could be run to the neighborhood.
