Waterfowl Hunt Opener Conditions At Browns Park WMA

by | Sep 21, 2023 | News | 0 comments

The 2023 waterfowl hunts are getting underway and the Division of Wildlife Resources has provided condition reports on their waterfowl management areas as spring runoff has affected some areas more than others. The report for the Browns Park WMA shows that water levels at the Headquarters unit are at hunt level while water levels on the Butch Cassidy unit are close to full. The Bridgeport unit will be low. Ponds on the Parsons unit will be full. Road access from Dutch John to the Bridgeport unit is in good condition while a section of the road to the Parsons unit is partially washed out and will require a high-clearance vehicle to cross. Currently, bird numbers in Browns Park are fair though hunters should expect to see fewer Canada geese. A closure is also being considered on the Headquarters or Parsons unit for possible swan trapping and surveys.
