Water Connections In Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District To Be Available Soon Through Local Collaboration

by | Feb 20, 2025 | Featured Stories, News | 0 comments

Vernal City and Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District have announced an agreement that will ease development restrictions within the District’s boundaries and make water connections available. “This collaborative and forward-thinking initiative ensures that new water connections can proceed while maintaining service to existing customers and without the requirement to receive irrigation shares,” shares the announcement. “The current water connection hold within Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District was the result of several local irrigation companies changing their bylaws making it more difficult to convert water irrigation shares to culinary use and the District not accepting non-voting shares with high assessments. Under the agreement, Vernal City will allocate its water shares to meet the District’s delivery obligation to the Ramsey Hill Mine. This proactive and community-focused move by both governing bodies will allow a significant, though limited, number of new culinary connections within Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District’s service area without requiring that new water purchasers provide their own water shares. While this is not a permanent solution, it demonstrates Vernal City’s and Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District’s on-going commitment to work together for the benefit of the community as a whole and address local water challenges.” Applications for water service are expected to open in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District is developing the policy to guide the allocation of the new connections. Water connections in Vernal City and Maeser Water District continue to be available. For further details, please contact Vernal City or the Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District.
