Ballots are arriving in mailboxes this week as the Utah Primary Election approaches. The Republican and Democratic parties are both holding their Primary Elections on June 30th and all voting must be done using mail-in ballots. Uintah County shared some important voting information to help those planning on casting their vote. “The deadline for voter registration and party affiliation is June 19th. Unaffiliated voters WILL NOT automatically be sent a ballot for the Primary Election. The Utah Republican Party REQUIRES voters to affiliate with the party to participate in its Primary Election. The Utah Democratic Party will allow unaffiliated voters to vote a Democratic ballot without affiliating with the party; however, you MUST request a Democratic ballot. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Primary Election will be held completely by mail. This is for the 2020 Primary Election only. Secure drop boxes will be available for depositing mail-in ballots until 8 p.m. on Election Day. A secure drop box has been installed on the north side of the Uintah County Library and another secure drop box will be located inside the Uintah County building.” Voters should also note that there will be no polling places open on Election Day. There will be no in-person voting. There will be no voter registration by provisional ballot. And the voter registration deadline is 11 days before the day of the election. Residents can check their voter registration status and party affiliation at www.vote.utah.gov
