Every person counts! Volunteers are needed in the ‘Community Homeless Count’, an
effort aimed at understanding and serving the homeless in our area. A meeting is being
held on January 18th at the Uintah Basin Association of Governments building in
Roosevelt for those interested in volunteering. Volunteers will then help to go out
searching and conducting surveys on January 25th, 26th, and 27th in the early morning
hours. “Each person who goes out to participate in the unsheltered count plays a vital role
in addressing the needs of those experiencing homelessness,” shares the announcement.
“With the data collected we can ensure more resources come into our community to help
those in need.” But what is considered homeless? Homeless is when a person or family is
living in a place not meant for human habitation, such as cars, parks, sidewalks,
abandoned buildings, or structures without running water. The meeting on January 18th
will be at 3:00pm. Call 435-722-4518 for more information.
