The prospect of filing taxes is an overwhelming task for many citizens and one that often requires assistance. A special program to offset the stress of preparing taxes and the cost of getting help is seeking local volunteers to make a difference for fellow community members. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is looking for those who can help create positive, impactful differences in the Uintah Basin community by helping guide others through the tax maze. No experience is needed to be a volunteer as training is provided. Last year, over 800 Utah volunteers gave just a few hours a week in order to assist over 20,000 Utah households with tax preparation, helping save those households millions of dollars in tax preparation fees. Many volunteer roles and positions are available, including virtually. For more information, contact Lauren at 435-722-4518. Sign up to volunteer at www.EarnItKeepItSaveItUtah.org.
