A new National Park Service report shows that over 13.5 million visitors to national parks in Utah spent over $1.6 billion dollars in the state in 2022. That spending resulted in 23,312 jobs and had a cumulative benefit to the state economy of almost $2.6 billion dollars. The report also shared data for Dinosaur National Monument showing the benefit to the economy for the park and surrounding region. There were 351,000 park visitors who spent an estimated $23.8 million dollars in local gateway regions while visiting Dinosaur National Monument in 2022. These expenditures supported a total of 270 jobs, $9.2 million dollars in labor income, $15.5 million dollars in value added, and $27.1 million dollars in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Dinosaur National Monument. Hotels, gas stations, and restaurants were the sectors most directly affected by visitor spending. Data from 2012 through 2020 showed an average of $16 million dollars in visitor spending while 2022 had visitor spending close to the $24.3 million dollar record year of 2021.
