Wildlife laws in the state of Utah are taken seriously as demonstrated by a felony charge filed last week in Uintah County. Court documents state that in December, the Defendant was a guide on a hunt that resulted in a spike elk being shot and killed without the proper tag. The animal was then abandoned and left at the scene. The statutory value for an elk is $750 dollars. The guide has now been charged with felony Wanton Destruction and is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on March 25th.
