Volunteers from the community have joined forces with the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce, Uintah County Travel and Tourism, Vernal City, Elks Lodge, and Uintah Recreation District for a new patriotic tradition. Members from these groups have formed the Freedom Fest Committee. The Committee has made plans to unite love of community and love of country by holding Uintah County’s first Freedom Fest. This event will take the traditional Fourth of July parade and fireworks in Vernal and extend the festivities to be an all day event. There will be the parade down Main Street but bigger and better than ever. “This year we’re stepping it up to make it as American as we can get because it is about time we celebrate freedom, put our foot down and say this is where we stand,” shares event organizer Bobby Oostveen. “This is a town that is strong and willing and ready to fight for what we believe in.” There will also be music and entertainment all afternoon long at the park, games, goods, food vendors, tournaments, and don’t forget about the amazing revamped edition of the Freedom Fireworks!
