From the Alive After Five stage in Vernal to a national stage, a Uintah High graduate and Vernalite was among the contestants featured on American Idol on Sunday night. 23-year-old Lillian Vandaam performed Doris Day’s ‘Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps’ but was given more screen time than just her song. Lillian hula hooped with Ryan Seacrest and had a friendly hula hoop competition with Carrie Underwood. Lillian played guitar during her performance and received overall positive feedback from the judges. Underwood said Lillian had artistry pouring out of every pore and voted yes while Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan didn’t feel she was ready yet. While this wasn’t her time to advance on American Idol, Lillian still thanked the judges.
