The future leaders of our cities and towns are busy learning and growing. The Vernal Youth City Council is a great example of this, having attended the Utah League of Cities and Towns’ Local Officials Day during the Utah Legislature this week. “Meeting Senator Winterton and Representative Chew was a highlight, and the tours of both the Capitol Building and Matheson Courthouse were fascinating and fun,” shares the Vernal City announcement. “It was a great opportunity to learn firsthand about local government and connect with other youth city councils.” The Youth City Council is sponsored by Vernal City and is made up of students from Uintah High and Terra Academy. The program is also open to home school and AVEC students. The youth council meets throughout the school year planning service projects and learning about local issues and how government functions.
