A woman and her children endured a terrifying situation last week after deciding to offer a ride to a stranger walking on the side of the road with a suitcase. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the woman told officers that she felt sorry for the man and offered him some food and a ride. The man accepted and entered her vehicle. The woman soon realized the man was intoxicated and asked him to exit the vehicle, which he refused to do. She drove to her apartment complex and took her children inside her apartment. The man followed them inside the apartment. The woman asked him to leave multiple times but the man refused. The woman convinced her children to go jump on a neighbor’s trampoline and once alone the man sexually assaulted her the first time. The dangerous situation continued until the woman was able to tell a male friend about the situation and when the male friend convinced the man to sit on the porch with him, the woman and her children snuck safely away and she finally called police. 27-year-old Erik Marquez-Reyna was arrested on June 5th and is charged with 3nd Degree Felony Burglary of a Dwelling, and Misdemeanor counts of Sexual Battery, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Intoxication.
