A 20-year-old Vernal woman was killed in a fatal accident on Tuesday, December 27th, at about 10:50am. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a gray Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Highway 40 in slushy/snow-covered conditions near milepost 40 near Strawberry Reservoir. “The Toyota crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and collided with a GMC Yukon head-on,” shares UHP. “The 20-year-old female driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Yukon is reported to be in serious condition and was transported to an area hospital. Several children were also transported from the Yukon with minor injuries. There were six occupants in the GMC.” Highway 40 was closed in both directions for about 2 hours before opening lanes to alternate traffic. Highway 40 was fully reopened just before 3pm. UHP confirmed to Evans Family Media that the 20-year-old driver of the Toyota is from Vernal. Her identity is not being shared at this time.
