Cool weather will soon be upon us and with it the need for some warm coats. The Rotary Club in Vernal has its annual Winter Coat Drive underway to help those in the community. The Rotary Club works to collect new or gently used coats, gloves, and scarves for all sizes both kids and adults until October 21st. There is an immediate need for kids coats. People can drop off donations at David Food and Drug, Uintah County Library, Basin Flood and Fire, Soda Poppin, State Farm, Vernal Christian Church and Downtown Auto. Rotarian Carl Dieckmann, one of the coat drive organizers, got involved with the service club by accident. He worked for a gentleman who couldn’t go to his Rotary meeting one morning and Carl was sent to take notes. He was hooked and has been a member of Rotary Club ever since. The annual coat drive is something he looks forward to/ Last year the effort gave out around 300 coats. Carl invites those who need winter apparel to plan to come to Vernal Christian Church on Saturday October 24th from 10am to 2pm. If individuals have any questions they can reach Carl at 435-621-4004.
