Vernal Regional Airport To Have Decrease in Flights

The Vernal Regional Airport will be cutting back on flights offered. According to airport director Ken Campbell, United and Sky West plan to decrease flights coming into Vernal by two, a decision that could cause a ripple effect. Enplanements are down, explained Campbell to the Uintah County Commissioners, and less flights will likely further decrease enplanements which could result in reduced funding. Efforts to prevent loss of funding will be ongoing. Campbell also presented the Commissioners with a grant opportunity. The Commissioners were asked for approval to accept an over $1 million dollar American Rescue Grant Agreement which the Commissioners unanimously approved.
