This week, 820 professionals gathered for the 2019 Children’s Justice Symposium at Snowbird hosted by the Utah Children’s Justice Center Program. The conference focused on a new national campaign called SHINE that is “designed to help children overcome the effects of abuse [and] make sure each child overcomes shame and stigma,” shares the Utah Attorney General’s Office. “Children who survive abuse deserve to SHINE.” While the work of all those in attendance is worth recognition, a Vernal Police Detective was the recipient of a special award during the symposium. Detective Mike Tribe was awarded the 2019 Multidisciplinary Team Award as he is a part of the Uintah/Daggett Children’s Justice Center Multidisciplinary Team. Anyone that knows or works with Detective Tribe knows that this award is well deserved. Detective Tribe has received other awards during his career, including the Vernal Police Department naming him Officer of the Year in 2016.
