A Vernal man is behind bars this week after the vehicle in his possession was determined to be stolen. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers were investigating a trailer theft out of West Jordan when a black dodge truck in the pictures was recognized as the vehicle known to be driven by 35-year-old Jack Boren. An investigation revealed that the truck at Boren’s residence had the VIN number covered so a search warrant was obtained and officers were able to gain access to the VIN which confirmed that the truck was the vehicle stolen out of West Jordan on November 29th, 2022. Boren was arrested at his residence. Because he is on probation for other charges, Adult Probation and Parole conducted a search of his residence which uncovered what was believed to be methamphetamine. He has been charged with Felony Receiving a Stolen Vehicle, Altering a Vehicle ID Number, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Restricted Person and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Boren is scheduled for his Initial Appearance in 8th District Court on April 1st.
