The Vernal Innovation Hub held its Grand Opening this week. “It was an amazing event,” shares manager Lori Haslem. “We really enjoyed having so many people come out and visit and tour the facility.” The Innovation Hub evolved from idea to completion despite a downturn in the local economy, shares the Hub’s website. Uintah County currently has 11% unemployment due to the coronavirus pandemic and the reduction of oil and gas industries and the Innovation Hub is aimed at providing resources and support for those working remotely or starting up a new business. Representatives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development were among those that attended this week’s Grand Opening. They were the ones that did the funding for the building, explains Haslem. There were also others in attendance that came from other cities around the state where they are interested in doing their own innovation hub. Located in what many remember as the old police station in Vernal, the Innovation Hub has been remodeled in a modern style with an open layout and a lot of natural light and art work. It has very affordable options and different levels as a professional workspace. To learn more or to book a tour, visit vernalinnovationhub.com
