Vernal Holly Days Pulls Off Pandemic Friendly Celebration

Thanks to the creativity and hard work of local leaders, Vernal Holly Days was a major success! In order to follow COVID-19 guidelines, the Holly Days celebration turned into home focused activities with only a few of the big events where social distancing was possible. Those that completed the special ‘Home for Holly Days’ checklist were entered into a drawing for a long list of prizes. Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp says she’s so happy they didn’t end up cancelling the event and instead came up with a way to celebrate safely. “Everyone loved ‘Home for Holly Days’ this year given the current situation,” says Coltharp. “We had over 2,000 entries into the contest. All of our sponsors still wanted to sponsor and show support. The parade was one of the biggest we have had and the fireworks, fire dancers, and lantern launch downtown was a fantastic way to end the celebration! We hope to be back to Holly Days as normal next year but if we had to do Home for Holly Days again, we would.”
