The recently reopened gas station located next to the T-Rex on Highway 40 in Vernal is closed down once again following a fire that happened early Tuesday. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond shares that at approximately 5:18am on November 19th, the Vernal Fire Department was paged to the Exxon gas station at 850 West Main for a possible structure fire. “Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof of the structure,” shares Raymond. “Firefighters made entry through the front door and found the fire in the back room and attic space. Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly and cleared the scene around 7am.” The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and Raymond estimates the loss at $450,000 dollars for the structure and contents.
