A downtown Vernal project has been selected as one of only a few winners of a highly competitive grant. “The downtown Vernal revitalization efforts received a boost from a T-Mobile Hometown grant,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. “Vernal City was awarded a grant of $45,000 dollars for the construction of a dinosaur inspired shade structure. The creative and unique structure will be installed next Spring in the new patio space behind the building at 74 East Main. The public patio space will be used for public gathering, small events, eating and relaxing.” The announcement was celebrated on September 12th at the Cobblerock Park. City officials, Chamber of Commerce, general public and local and state T-Mobile officials were in attendance. “The T-Mobile Hometown grants are very competitive,” explains Bennion, “with only 25 grants awarded nationwide and over 650 applications.” Vernal and Hurricane were both selected from Utah for this round of funding.
