Implementation of the Vernal downtown plan will take several jumps forward this spring and summer. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion shares that the project to create public parking and the walkway behind the Zions block and Cobblerock block is out to bid with construction starting in April and running through the summer. The two mixed-use buildings, located at 100 West and 100 South and one block away at Vernal Ave and 100 South, are nearing completion of the design and construction will start this summer. “The old Basin laundry building has a collapsed roof due to the snow load,” explains Bennion, “and the adjacent alley has been barricaded to protect the public from the area.” The demolition of the Showalter buildings will occur in March and April.
