Since being announced last spring, the Vernal downtown facade program has made great progress in beautifying downtown. The program offers funds to cover a big chunk of exterior improvements to commercial and mixed use properties. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion shared this week that 25 façade grant applications have been submitted to date, 5 have been completed, 2 are waiting approval, and 18 grant projects are in progress.
“Total investment for the submitted projects is $1,555,000 dollars with $490,000 dollars in grant funding,” shares Bennion. “The impacts of the façade grant program are visible along Main Street with the new windows, awnings, signs and exteriors.”
Another grant is also available for property owners in the downtown area. “The demolition grant will pay for 80 percent of a demolition bid for building removal,” explains Bennion. “The demo program is similar to the façade grant program.” For more information, contact Vernal City.
