A project the Vernal City Council has been discussing for years has come together and will save the City money in the long run. Vernal City has been working with Rocky Mountain Power on moving to energy efficient lighting and the finish line is in sight. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion shared earlier this month during City Council meeting that Rocky Mountain Power would soon be providing a contract for consideration. “It is for a full conversion of city wide street lights to LED,” shares Bennion, who explains that LED is less expensive, better lighting, and less light pollution. Vernal City has about 700 streetlights to be converted, including the downtown decorative lights. It is anticipated the Vernal City Council will approve the contract with Rocky Mountain Power at their next meeting.
