Behind the scenes work on downtown Vernal revitalization continues. The Zions Block project was awarded to contractor BHI and the multi-step process to determine the cost and scope of the project is narrowing down. Vernal City Council approved the final guarantee maximum price during a June City Council meeting which was the last contracting element needed to allow BHI to get started on the project. After making modifications and adjustments, the project cost was reduced by nearly $280,000 dollars, bringing it down to just over $2,034,000 dollars. With the approval, BHI has been able to order supplies and plans to get shovels in the ground by late July.
