The suspension on Uintah Transportation Special Service District Executive Director Adam Massey has been lifted. During a meeting held Wednesday night, the UTSSD board unanimously voted to lift the suspension, shares board member Kevin VanTassell. A memo from Board Chairman Dan Dilsaver placing Executive Director Adam Massey on leave was presented to Massey in the presence of a law enforcement officer on September 11th, the same day that an audit of the District by the State Auditor’s Office began. The result of that audit was released on November 1st and the findings included serious questions about the handling of placing Massey on leave. The audit states that the memo was not shared with the entire board but rather only carbon copied to two other board members who had been informed about the decision that morning by text message. According to the audit, any claims that actions were administrative as justification were found baseless by the State Auditor’s Office and the Office of the Attorney General was informed of the noncompliance. During the board meeting on December 13th, it was also unanimously voted to replace Chairman Dan Dilsaver with board member Robert Leake. Leake will take over as the new Chairman on January 1st. The board also reviewed the findings of the audit and, according to VanTassell, most of the items identified by the state have now been addressed by the board. One thing that still needs sorted out is switching from the use of a credit card to a purchasing card, explains VanTassell, and that should be addressed in the coming weeks.
