The Ute girls softball team hosted 6A school the Westlake Thunder out of Saratoga Springs Tuesday afternoon. It looked it might be a short game, as the Thunder started the first inning scoring 7 runs. In the bottom of the first Charlee Gilroy hit a two run home run. The Thunder countered with a run in the second, Gilroy stroked another homer as the Utes put four runs on the board.
The Utes scored another run in the third and another Gilroy home run in the fourth tied the score at eight.
In the top o six the Thunder broke the tie with three runs and the Utes could only come up with one run. The Thunder scored another in the last inning, but the Utes countered with three runs to send the game into extra innings.
Westlake scored in their half of the eighth inning, and the Utes came back with two runs to beat the Thunder 14-13.
Senior Catcher, Charlee Gilroy finished with three homers and a double, with Randee Pace smacking to doubles and a home run with Addison Buist homering as well.
The Utes start region play at Payson this week.
