There was a bill that was debated at the Utah House panel that is being sponsored by Representative Kera Birkeland. Her district includes the northwestern part of Duchesne County. HB 302, Preserving Sports for Female Students, is a bill that would require public schools to designate athletic activities by sex. It would also prohibit a student of the “male sex” from partcipating in athletic activities designated for female students. The bill received a favorable recommendation of a 6 to 4 vote which means it will move to the full House for consideration.
