Utah DWR Offers Locations for Great Ice Fishing for Yellow Perch

COVID has made the outdoors the easiest choice to get away from the house and many families have been exploring various outdoor activities. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is ready to help those individuals and families wanting to try ice fishing by giving them a few suggestions. They recommend that people target yellow perch as they are often the easiest species to catch through the ice. The DWR recommends Big Sandwash Reservoir as a prime spot. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Sportfish Coordinator Randy Oplinger says that “winter is a good time to go fishing because ice gives everyone the opportunity to walk to the best areas — the places where the perch, rainbow trout and bluegill are hanging out. Fish are also hungry and active in the winter, and that can make them easier to catch.”
