In the Uintah Basin it is a blessing to have college campuses that are accessible for such a rural area. The Utah Statesman publication has shared an article highlighting how USU Uintah Basin especially offers value to those wishing for research experience and offers a variety of opportunities to students. Several of the professors of USU-Uintah Basin highlight that though it is a small campus, the research opportunities per capita allow everyone that wants experience in research to get experience, as it is not quite as competitive to find positions. Many of the research classes have only four to six students allowing for stronger connections between students and faculty. This in turn creates some great mentorship opportunities. Research is considered critical for science undergraduates and the exposure with a mentor helps students navigate the natural success and failures associated with research.
