The American Red Cross of Utah has put out the call for blood donations amid the hurricanes in the southeastern United States. The recent hurricanes have led to the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives in Southeastern states, resulting in over 2,500 uncollected blood and platelet donations. “The extensive damage from Hurricane Helene has severely impacted blood donation centers, increasing the need for blood and platelets,” said Heidi Ruster, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Utah/Nevada Region. Donations can be scheduled through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or on the Red Cross website. Local blood drives currently posted are scheduled on October 14th at the Uintah Community Center in Vernal from 1 to 6pm; on October 15th at USU Uintah Basin in Vernal from 1 to 6pm and the Vernal Utah Ashley Stake Center from 2 to 7pm; on October 16th at Lowe’s in Vernal from 1 to 6pm and at Ovintiv in Myton from 8am to 2pm; on October 21st at the Lapoint Chapel from 2 to 7pm and UBTech in Roosevelt from 10am to 4pm; on October 22nd at UBTech in Vernal from 10am to 4pm; on October 28th at the Uintah County Library in Vernal from 1 to 6pm; and on October 29th at the Roosevelt Library from 1 to 6pm.
