An incident that occurred this week in Uintah County left law enforcement with a lot more questions than answers initially. A couple arrived at Ashley Regional Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon with one person needing treatment for a serious but not life threatening injury. Law enforcement was called to investigate and during that process taped off the area in front of the Emergency Room entrance in order to search their vehicle. On Wednesday evening, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the incident, sharing, “What we believe happened was a couple from Colorado was traveling through Vernal when some sort of argument/altercation occurred inside the vehicle. At some point during the altercation, the male produced a handgun and shots were fired and he was struck.” It was believed the male would be booked into Uintah County Jail after being treated but it was not confirmed whether or not that happened.
