Charges have been filed in an April 7th officer-involved critical incident in Duchesne County. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Codey Dale Arrowchis has been charged in 8th District Court with first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, second-degree felony aggravated assault producing loss of consciousness, third-degree felony aggravated assault, two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence in the presence of a child, carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and intoxication. Two deputies were attempting to detain Arrowchis at around 2am on April 7th “when he pulled a handgun, racked the gun’s slide to chamber a bullet, and began to bring the gun up.” One of the deputies fired two rounds as Arrowchis brought the gun up. Those two rounds missed and struck a nearby unoccupied vehicle while Arrowchis shot himself in the head and he was taken to Uintah Basin Medical Center. He is not in custody as he remains hospitalized from the April 7th injury. He has been ordered to appear in 8th District Court
on May 20th.
The deputy who fired his weapon during the incident remains on leave as the investigation is ongoing.
