The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the Streeter Fire. The main news is that though there is still no containment estimate, there has been minimal fire growth. A Type 3 Incident Management Team is managing the fire with 110 firefighters working engines, one Type 1 Helicopter, and one Type 3 helicopter trying to limit the blaze. The fire started before 8 am on July 7th. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office responded to the wildland fire in the area of mile marker 62 on Colorado Highway 13, near the ColoWyo Mine. The morning and afternoon saw the fire grow very quickly because of the Red Flag conditions. The fire is burning sagebrush, pinion juniper, and grass on private and federal lands. Agencies that have responded to the fire include Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Land Management, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Craig Fire/Rescue, Moffat County Road and Bridge, White River Electric, and Tri-State Generation and Transmission. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
