Union Cougars Track And Field Breaks Five School Records Over Weekend

There are many impressive high school athletes in the Uintah Basin and among those shining bright are the Union Cougar Track and Field team who had a banner weekend competing at the BYU Invitational. Over 50 1A to 3A schools were competing and they took 2nd overall with the boys and girls team scores combined. There were also 5 school records broken over the weekend. Jaylie Jenkins set a new school record for the Girls 3200 meter race with a time of 10 minutes 43 seconds, which is only 8 seconds off the 3A state record. Paul Squire set a new school record in the Boys 800 meter race with a time of 1 minute 57 seconds. Susie Palei set a new school record in the Girls Discus with a throw of just over 111 feet. The Boys 4 x 400 meter relay set a new school record with a time of 3 minutes 30 seconds and the Boys Sprint Medley Relay set a new school record with a time of 3 minutes 36 seconds.
