The Utah Department of Workforce Services reports that September’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 2.6%, a one-tenth of a percent increase over August. Approximately 47,500 Utahns are unemployed. The September national unemployment rate is unchanged at 3.8%. “Unemployment remains very low at 2.6%, but it has risen by three-tenths of a percentage point since May,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “Finding adequate labor can still be a challenge for some businesses, but not nearly the struggle that it was throughout most of the past 12 months.” Daggett County’s unemployment rate is 3.7% which is up from 3.5% the month before. Duchesne County’s unemployment rate is 2.9% which is up from 2.8% and Uintah County’s unemployment rate stayed the same at 3.3%. The next unemployment update is scheduled for November 20th.
