The Utah Department of Workforce Services has provided updated unemployment numbers by County for the month of January. Daggett County unemployment registered at 4.3%. Duchesne County unemployment ticked up to 3.1%. Uintah County rose slightly to 3.4% unemployment. December’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for Utah is at 2.4% and the national unemployment rate ticked down to 3.4%. “Interestingly, the unemployment rates for 2022 were revised slightly upward,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “This shows that more people were looking for work last year. This is a reflection on the strength of the 2022 economy as more people felt confident to go looking for a job. It also helps to explain how the economy continued to grow in the face of limited labor availability.” February’s employment information is scheduled for release on March 24th.
