Uintah High Theatre had a truly successful theatre season and they have the awards to prove it. “Uintah was the most recognized at the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards on Saturday,” shares Uintah School District. “This event recognizes high school theatre productions and the people and elements that go into creating it. There were 35 high schools participating this year and 46 adjudicated musicals. There are no divisions for school size or location. This year the event was “virtual” and live-streamed… After seeing each production, the state organization chooses a top ten in each of 16 categories. Uintah won nominations in 12 of those categories this year.” Shrek the Musical won for Best Costumes and Best Technical Crew. The big win of the evening was Gus Scott as Best Actor in the role of Shrek. “In any other year, Gus would be sent to New York City for the National event, called the Jimmy Awards for a week and a half long training with Broadway and university professionals culminating in a production gala…Well this year, among the many things our seniors have lost, The Jimmy Awards have been cancelled. If you see Gus Scott, give him a well earned congratulations. This is a highly prestigious award (and it came with a $1750 scholarship).” Evans Family Media congratulates Gus Scott and the entire cast and crew of Shrek the Musical on their success!
