Uintah School District shares that Uintah High Director of Instrumental Music Brian Gibson has received the results from the Region Instrumental Solo and Ensemble Festival. The festival was held virtually this year with musicians submitting recordings of their performances. Lily Wilson and Halle Hacking sent in a duet (viola/cello) and received a Superior rating. Meghan Rasmussen submitted a piano solo, received a Superior rating, and qualified for state. All three ensembles from the percussion class received Excellent ratings. This is impressive, Gibson said, because several members of the ensembles are new to percussion this year. Rylynn Peters (trumpet) and Matthew Bascom (horn) both received Superior ratings and qualified for state. “These are the first brass students to qualify for state in years,” Gibson said. “In fact, I can’t remember the last brass player to qualify.” Thomas Driggs received an Excellent rating for his clarinet solo. “We will be recording the state qualifiers as soon as we get back from Spring Break,” Gibson said. “If you see any of these kids, congratulate them please.”
