A case of misinformation nearly a decade old has apparently resurfaced and Uintah School District is setting the record straight, again. In January of 2014, a KSL article prompted public outcry after reporting that students at Uintah Elementary School went without lunch because they did not have enough money on their school lunch accounts. While that specific school is in Salt Lake City School District, the incident became mistakenly linked to Uintah School District due to having the word ‘Uintah’ in its name. On Wednesday, Uintah School District announced that they have been made aware of a social media post once again circulating about the 2014 incident and the case of mistaken identity appears to be happening again. Setting the record straight, the District stated, “Please know that our District has processes to help families who have a negative balance on their students’ school meal accounts. Those processes never involve depriving a child of a school meal.”
