Following this week’s district-wide lockdown, the Uintah School District has shared a reminder with the community on the methods of communication used by the District. In addition to email and using social media, Uintah School District uses the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to mobile phones containing important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. “Unfortunately, we’ve had to use the system twice this week for safety alerts,” shares the District announcement. “We are aware that some parents/guardians did not receive the text messages. Here are a couple possible reasons why this has happened. Parents/guardians are given the opportunity to opt-in to receive text messages each year during registration. Right now, we have 6,716 students enrolled in our district. As of this morning, SchoolMessenger shows 3,833 parents/guardians have opted to receive text messages [and] 55 parents/guardians have opted out of receiving text messages.” The District also notes that the messaging system is only effective if the phone numbers provided by parents/guardians in Aspire are up-to-date and correct. Anyone needing help updating or correcting contact information in Aspire can reach out to their child’s school. To sign up for SchoolMessenger, send a text message with “Y” or “Yes” to the District’s short code number: 67587.
