The Uintah School Board is holding a public budget hearing this evening at 5:30pm at the Vernal Middle School auditorium. The District provided a fact sheet this week ahead of the hearing highlighting key numbers relevant to tonight’s meeting. The Final Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Tentative Budget is $101.6 million dollars. The Tentative Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Budget being proposed is $98.8 million dollars. Tax information for the 2021-2022 budget states: the state-mandated Basic Rate is expected to generate $6.4 million dollars. The Board Local Rate is expected to generate $11.1 million dollars. No change is being proposed to this rate. The Fund 31 Rate (Debt Levy) is currently expected to generate $2 million dollars. The district administration is proposing an increase to the Debt Levy of $1.3 million dollars to cover all General Obligation Bonds. The Fund 32 Rate (Capital Levy) is expected to generate $8l7 million dollars. District administration is proposing a reduction in Capital Levy of $1.3 million dollars. The proposed increase in Debt Levy and the proposed decrease in Capital Levy offset each other. This means there is no proposed increase in property taxes.
