Uintah School District issued a press release on Monday to outline what changes are in place in the District as a result of the Governor’s new orders. All extracurricular activities are postponed until November 23rd. This includes tryouts for winter sports and practices at Uintah High School, Uintah Middle School and Vernal Middle School. The Utah High School Activities Association will provide schools with guidance on winter sports in the coming days. Anything that falls outside of students going to their regular classes is postponed until November 23rd. Students should continue to seek academic help from their teachers before and after school based on the protocols established by their respective schools. Coaches and advisors may conduct virtual activities as approved by school administration, as long as students are participating separately and individually from their homes. All school assemblies, concerts or other mass gatherings are postponed until November 23rd. There will be no community use of district facilities until further notice. “Keeping our schools open is important for our kids and our community, and I believe that extracurricular sports, clubs and activities are a critical component of education,” shares Uintah Schools Superintendent Rick Woodford. “I am hopeful that the protocols the state has implemented for the next two weeks will put us in a better position to keep our schools open and allow our students to resume their extracurricular activities.” For more information on the Governor’s orders, visit coronavirus.utah.gov
